The Unborn Children (Abortion)
The Unborn Children
I want to properly address what is one of the most morally outrageous, sinfully viscous practices that we participate in. And that is abortion.
In the U.S since abortion was legalized in 1973 over 45 million have occurred. That averages out right now to about 1.4 million abortions a year, 3000 abortions happening everyday. An abortion occurring ever 20 to 25 seconds. When you look at this you realize that abortion has affected everyone all over the country. The most conservative average is that at least 1/3rd of women in the U.S will have an abortion at least some point in their life. Thats astounding, eye opening to rea

Real Faith Part Two: Biblical Conversion
If you haven't read part one: Spiritual Deception (the last journal) please do so now as this journal is a continuation of the last.
Biblical Conversion.
Looking back at John chapter 2 and three we see a kind of progression. Jesus begins by telling Nicodemus that despite all of his
work, despite all of his effort, and despite all of his motives, Nicodemus was dead in his sin. This is the fundamental starting point of the gospel: a right understanding of man's condition before a holy God. If we don't get this right, if this is not clear, then we will deceive people. A friend of mine uses a saying that says, if we don't preach sin, the law a

Real Faith Part One: Spiritual Deception
Part one a two part (or more) series on real faith.
I invite people to seriously think about spiritual deception. With that being said I want to dive right into God's Word. Specifically in John chapter 2. I will be starting in verse 23.
While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many trusted in His name when they saw the signs He was doing. Jesus, however, would not entrust Himself to them, since He knew them all and because He did not need anyone to testify about man; for He Himself knew what was in man.
There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Him at night and said, "Rabbi, we kn

Every Man's Battle-The struggle of sexual purity.
Before I start, yes, I know what website I am on.
That being said, lets look at some sobering statistics about sexual sin.
90% of Christian men admit being disconnected with God because of lust, porn, fantasy.
68% of male pastors seeks porn
81% of sex addicts (yes, its an addiction) are sexual abuse victims
88% of teens can't talk about sex to their parents.
93% of 15-19 year olds have a least one sexual partner in the last 12 months
And
93% of teens want/ are not getting the abstinence message.
These stats are sobering. Most Christian men are indistinguishable from the rest of the world when it comes to sexual purity. Why? Because C

Spiritual Warfare: An Overview
This is the beginning of a new series on Spiritual Warfare. And I want to begin by answering the question; what is spiritual warfare? When you hear or read the phrase what does it mean? The simplest definition I can give you of spiritual warfare is this:
It is the recognition that as Christians are engaged in a battle.
Now I want to be very clear, when I talk about Christianity as a battle, what I don't mean is that there are certain aspects of our lives where we sometimes engage in fighting against the enemy. When I talk about spiritual warfare what I mean is that the whole of our Christian lives can be looked at in terms of battle. After

The Offering Plate and Us
How many of you have an offering plate passed around every Sunday at church? My church does. And how many times to we look at this plate and only think of tithing or physical giving? Many times I think we are missing the actual point of whats being demonstrated.
Analogies are used a whole lot in Scripture, and the offering plate passed around at church is another. A really big one.
We can see this when Paul writes to the church in Rome. The passage I am looking at is found in Romans 12:1.
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrific

The Wardrobe (How we view ourselves in Christ)
I want to start with a question. Do clothes make the man? Or, is it the other way around? Are the clothes that we choose to wear, influence how we think about ourselves? Or, is it how we think about ourselves that cause us to decide what clothes to wear?
In studies. people had an increase in self confidence while dressing in nice clothes. People felt more accomplished and felt smarter too. Not were more accomplished or smarter, they just felt like they were.
And according to these studies, clothes do indeed make the man. That if you are dressed nicely you think better about yourself. On the other hand, in the same studies the reason why man

Free Will, Determinism, or is it something else?
Determinism-Says we have absolutely no will nor choices and everything has already been laid out. This is true, in a sense, but also completely wrong. Yes, everything has already been laid out, for God knows the future (I will expand on this further down) But its not determinism. For that would mean there is no reason to preach or spread the Word of God. Scripture tells us to be fishers of men. And then there is the Great Commission, go therefore and make disciples of all nations. Now is determinism is true, then why does Christ Jesus command us to spread His Word? Furthermore Scripture tells us that its a choice to believe. John 3:16 anyone?

Discovering the Truth and Beauty of the Gospel Set
A four part sermon set.
Who God really is
The Gospel reveals the glory of God. According to God's Word, He is the sovereign Creator of all things. He is holy above all. He is righteous in all His ways, just in all His wraith, and loving toward all He has made.
I wonder sometimes, though, if we intentionally or just unknowingly mask the beauty of God in the Gospel by minimizing various attributes. Peruse the Christian marketplace, and you will find a plethora of books, songs, and paintings that depict God as a loving Father. And He is that. But he is not just a loving Father, and limiting our understanding of God to this picture ultimately
